La nuit de Laos — Stylish, Good-Value Stay 3 Minutes from the Night Market (Kitchen Rooms, Quiet Area)

I stayed at La nuit de Laos, a small designer-apartment-style guesthouse that’s priced fairly and perfectly located for sightseeing.

It’s a match for travelers who want a chic, quiet base 3 minutes on foot from the Night Market and 1 minute from the Mekong, without paying resort prices.

In this guide I’ll show the exact location benefits, which room to pick (hint: the Deluxe Double), what the kitchen and amenities are like, on-site services (tour bookings, laundry), and a few honest notes so you can decide if it fits your trip.

Is this a safe, good-value base near everything?

If you care most about location + price, this is a strong pick.

There’s no pool or flashy facilities, but the trade-off is a calm lane right by the Night Market (≈3 minutes) and the Mekong (≈1 minute)—ideal for sightseeing days and easy evenings out.

I noticed how quiet it gets at night despite being close to the action.

Where exactly is it (and what’s around)?

  • Night Market: ~3 minutes on foot (food area also ~3 minutes).
  • Mekong River: ~1 minute on foot.
  • Surrounded by traveler-friendly spots: Joma Bakery (popular café) and Mekong Minimart (good drink selection) are close, plus a post office, money exchange, and massage spas.

This cluster of services makes it a convenient hub for first-time visitors.

Which room should I book?

La nuit de Laos Deluxe Double Room (Photo facing the washroom)

If it’s available, choose the Deluxe Double Room (there are two of them).

It’s the only category with a designer-apartment feel26 m² yet it feels bigger thanks to layout and windows.

I used it as a comfortable base between outings and didn’t feel cramped.

Rooms are limited (7 total), so book early if your dates are fixed.

Can I cook? How good is the kitchen?

The in-room kitchen (with stove) is remarkably spacious, and the fridge is large enough to store ingredients for several days.

That makes the property suitable not only for short stays but also longer visits.

You can easily buy produce at the Morning Market—cabbage, eggs, pork, chicken, and more.

If you value self-catering in Luang Prabang, this setup is a big plus.

ADVICE ADDED

If you plan to arrive late from a tour and cook, pick up basics earlier in the day—markets wind down by evening.

Natural light, quiet sleep, and cleanliness

La nuit de Laos Deluxe Double Room (Window View Photo)

The Deluxe Double has lots of windows; the morning light through the courtyard greenery makes waking up a pleasure.

Floors are shoes-off (leave them by the door), which helps keep things very clean.

I also appreciated the queen bed and a large in-room safe that fits a laptop—handy if you want daily housekeeping without worry.

What amenities are (and aren’t) provided?

Amenities provided at La nuit de Laos
  • Provided: Toothbrush, cotton swabs, shower cap, comb (a nice touch in Luang Prabang, where some hotels skip toothbrushes).
  • Not provided: cotton pads, sanitary bags, etc.—pack your own if needed.
  • Bath amenities are basic: shampoo + shower gel (plus bar soap).
The rain shower had good water pressure in my stay.

I personally travel with a favorite foaming body wash because many Laos hotels don’t stock it.

Welcome drink & “arrival snacks”

Bottled water, snacks, bananas, and coffee provided at La nuit de Laos

At check-in you get a fresh mango juice; in the room, there are crackers and a banana as a simple welcome snacknot common in Laos and a charming gesture.

Coffee is instant; I bring a small hand grinder because good beans are easy to find in Luang Prabang and it upgrades your mornings.

You can buy coffee beans at cafés around town.

Shared open space (note the smoking area)

An open space within the hotel photographed at night

There’s a thatched open space by the front desk, open at night as well.

A water dispenser with hot water and instant coffee are available—great for a quiet cup before bed.

Note: this is also a smoking area, so those sensitive to smoke may prefer to relax in-room.

Breakfast (optional, paid)

Breakfast isn’t included by default, but you can add it.

Choices tend to include pho, khao piak, and egg dishes, with juice, fruit, fried spring rolls, and yogurt on the side.

Reviews often praise the hearty portions—I’ve heard banana pancakes are popular.

Alternatively, the Morning Market nearby is perfect for a local start to the day.

On-site services (24h front desk, tours, laundry, rentals)

Hotel Front Desk
24-hour front desk. If you need anything, just ask!

Despite being a small guesthouse, services are extensive: a 24-hour front desk, tour bookings, and taxi/tuk-tuk reservations.

Laundry is available at 23,000 kip per kgabout the same as nearby shops; some dedicated laundries charge 25,000–30,000 kip.

They can also help with bike and bicycle rentals—just ask Ms. Suni, the owner.

For convenience and price transparency, this on-site laundry is hard to beat.

How do travelers rate it? (and booking tip)

La nuit de Laos on booking.com
booking.com

Recent snapshots show Trip.com and Booking.com around 9.5/10 and Agoda around 9.4/10high for the price/area.

With only 7 rooms and just two Deluxe Doubles, book early for popular dates.

This isn’t luxury—it’s the quiet kind, where morning light, a green courtyard, and a short stroll to the river slow you down in the best way.
