I stopped at Full House Cafe on the way to Kuang Si Falls and found a peaceful, open-air escape right in the middle of the paddies.
If you like quiet scenery, photo-friendly boardwalks, and taking your shoes off to lounge in a thatched hut, this spot will make you happy.
In this guide, you’ll see who it suits, the best season to visit for green rice views, how to get there (scooter/bicycle or chartered tuk-tuk), basic ordering flow, and what to expect on site.

Is it worth stopping on the way to Kuang Si Falls?

Yes—if you want a calm, countryside break with big views and easy photos, it pairs naturally with a Kuang Si trip.
The café sits about 10 km from central Luang Prabang on the route toward the falls, so it’s convenient as a coffee/juice stop before or after swimming.
Standard group tours don’t include café stops, so you’ll need to arrange your own transport.
For families or anyone seeking slow time between activities, this is a low-stress add-on.
If you’re traveling with kids, keep a close eye on them on the raised wooden deck.

Location & hours (and what’s nearby)
| Address | village luangprabang, Naxao, Laos |
| Hours | 7:00–18:30 |
Opened in January 2024, it’s a new countryside café set among wide paddies, with nothing but fields around you—exactly the point.
I visited en route to Kuang Si and liked how easy it was to drop in, sit down, and cool off before heading back to town.
What makes it special (and photogenic)

The signature experience is walking a boardwalk right through the rice fields to reach small thatched, stilted salas (open huts).
Seating is semi-private but open-air—no walls, breezy, and very relaxed—with triangle pillows and floor cushions so you can lie back and watch the fields.
It’s not flashy luxury—it’s the quiet kind, where you sit on the balcony-like platform and feel like the rice terrace is yours for a while.
Sun can be strong on the deck; a hat helps between hut and counter.
Menu & how to order (counter first, then relax)

You order and pay at the counter near the entrance, then head to your hut.
Expect a typical Luang Prabang café mix: coffee, fresh juices, smoothies, simple bites like fried rice and croissants.
A fun twist here is multiple ice-cream flavors and an affogato option—a good match for the heat.
Seating has fans but no air-conditioning, so cold drinks (or ice cream) are extra satisfying.

I tried the mixed fruit smoothie—the portion was huge, served in a squat, jar-like glass; finishing one cooled me down completely.

Best time of year for green rice views (two harvest cycles)
This area follows two crop cycles: planting around December–January with harvest in May, and planting around June–July with harvest in November【UPDATE POINT: ここを最新にしてください】.
That means the most photogenic “green rice” months are roughly February–April and August–October.
January and July are just after planting, so the fields can look sparse in photos.
If your trip falls in those green windows, this café becomes a must-stop for pictures.
How to get there (scooter, bicycle, or charter a tuk-tuk)
You can rent a scooter or bicycle, or charter a tuk-tuk for a simple there-and-back.
The road is paved, so riding is straightforward even though it’s a bit of a distance.
If you’re negotiating with a driver, say you want “Full House Cafe in Naxao village.”
If you charter a tuk-tuk, agree on the return pickup time before you’re dropped off so you’re not stuck waiting.

Who will enjoy this (and who might not)

If you value open air, slow time, and big views, you’ll love it—especially as a soft add-on to Kuang Si.
If you need indoor seating or strong A/C, this isn’t the spot.
Go morning or late afternoon for the calmest light and cooler air.
I lingered longer than planned—the mix of breeze, cushions, and quiet fields makes it easy to lose track of time.
